UE: NEL 2024 LE AUTORITÀ DI VIGILANZA SULLA PROTEZIONE DEI DATI HANNO INFLITTO MULTE PER 1,2 MILIARDI DI EURO
Secondo un nuovo rapporto, lo scorso anno sono state inflitte in tutta Europa multe per un totale di 1,2 miliardi di euro per violazioni delle norme UE sulla protezione dei dati, di cui oltre la metà è stata emessa dalle autorità irlandesi. Tra queste figurano le multe di 310 milioni di euro inflitte a LinkedIn, di proprietà di Microsoft, e quelle di 251 milioni di euro inflitte a Meta, proprietario di Facebook e Instagram, nel corso dell’anno.

Il presidente degli Stati Uniti, Donald Trump, ha revocato un ordine esecutivo del 2023 firmato dall’ex presidente Joe Biden, che mirava a ridurre i rischi associati all’intelligenza artificiale (IA) per i consumatori, i lavoratori e la sicurezza nazionale. L’ordine di Biden richiedeva che gli sviluppatori di sistemi IA, che presentavano rischi significativi, condividessero i risultati dei test di sicurezza con il governo prima del loro rilascio pubblico. La revoca è in linea con la piattaforma del Partito Repubblicano del 2024, che considerava tali regolamentazioni un ostacolo all’innovazione nell’IA.

La Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) ha annunciato di aver subito una violazione dei dati alla fine del 2024, che ha compromesso le informazioni personali di 61.000 individui in tutto lo stato. L’incidente è stato causato da dipendenti che hanno avuto accesso non autorizzato ai dati personali di beneficiari di programmi di assistenza alimentare. In seguito all’indagine, sette dipendenti sono stati licenziati per il loro coinvolgimento nell’accesso improprio ai dati.

EU: IN 2024 DATA PROTECTION WATCHDOGS IMPOSED €1.2 BILLION IN FINES
According to a new report, fines totaling €1.2 billion were imposed across Europe last year for violations of EU data protection regulations, with more than half issued by Irish authorities. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has disclosed a data breach that occurred in late 2024, compromising the personal information of 61,000 individuals statewide. The breach was caused by employees who gained unauthorized access to personal data from food assistance program beneficiaries. Following an investigation, seven employees were terminated for their involvement in the improper data access.
